Peppers – Day 41

The new mad hatters have managed to pull the seeds off of their heads as they’ve come up.  When I put them in the peat pods, I stuck the root and the seed into the soil and left the bend in the stem just barely sticking out of the soil.    I’ll have to make

Peppers – Day 40

It’s Saturday, I think.  Every day seems like every other day when you’re sheltering-in-place, so I can’t really be sure.  Regardless, the plants get to take over my desk for the day.  It’s sunny now, but too cold for them to go out to enjoy it.  I’m still being extra cautious with their introduction to

Peppers – Day 39

I wonder if I can teach them to say “I am Groot”? Some of my mad hatters sprouted, so I’m transferring them to peat pods today.  Hopefully, they’ll grow better than the ones in the first batch.  I left them in the incubator a little longer so they have more established roots than I did

Peppers – Day 38

Here are a few more close-up pictures.  I may work on figuring out if I got everyone labelled correctly this weekend.  Since some of the seeds got mixed up, I’m not really sure which plant is which.  Once they produce some peppers I’ll mostly be able to tell, but I will need to give away

Peppers – Day 37

I don’t have much of anything new to report.  Pepper plants continue to be pepper plants.  While they take up a lot of room on my desk, it’s rather nice being surrounded by plants while I’m trapped in the house because of the plague.

Peppers – Day 36

Some of the peppers that were outside for a few hours yesterday got a little wilted.  I brought them back inside, and they perked back up after a short time.  Even though they were in the shade or filtered sunlight they still had a hard time coping.  It was a little breezy but it wasn’t

Peppers – Day 35

Since it wasn’t raining or freezing, I decided I’d take some of the bigger plants outside for a little while to start acclimating them to the real world.  They’ve gotten some training for dealing with the breeze by sitting in front of a fan in the house, but it’s not quite the same as being

Peppers – Day 34

Some of the peppers that had rather pale leaves look quite a bit healthier since I replanted them.  It took a while but their leaves are much darker green now.  I’m guessing that the peat pods I had them in didn’t supply enough nutrients for them to really thrive.  The garden soil is better for

Peppers – Day 33

It’s Saturday and I don’t intend to use my desk for work, so the peppers get to spread out a little.  I got almost everyone transplanted into bigger cups this morning and moved the big grow light to the middle of the desk so it could cover a little more area.  I’m hoping it gets
