I thought that this little chocolate ghost plant was dead.  Its first leaves withered and it was just a little stick coming out of the soil.  I’m not sure what happened to it, but it definitely wasn’t healthy.  I had mostly given up on it, but I kept making sure it had water and light.  It’s now popped out a new leaf seems to be trying to recover.  I’m sure there’s a lesson here about resilience, and not giving up even if things seem hopeless.

This little gator jigsaw isn’t doing great either.  It doesn’t appear to be failing, but it’s not thriving either.  Its leaves are really pale and it isn’t growing as quickly as some of the others.  I transferred it into a bigger cup with garden soil.  Maybe that will help it.

The little crinkled leaves coming out of the side of this plant remind me of the scene from Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince where Professor Slughorn was stealing tentacula leaves from the greenhouse.

As the plants mature it’s becoming easier to tell the different varieties apart.  The purple cayenne plants in the back of this tray are distinctly different from the Bahamian goat pepper plants in the middle.  The mad hatter in the foreground still looks a bit like the purple cayenne though.
