It’s been six days since I planted the basil seeds in cups of commercial potting mix and coffee grounds.  The seeds in the potting mix have sprouted and you can clearly see them.  The seeds in the coffee grounds have sprouted as well, but they’re a little behind the seeds in the potting mix.

So far, it looks like the commercial mix is winning.  The basil in the potting soil is clearly more mature after six days than the basil in the coffee grounds.  In terms of germination speed, the coffee grounds aren’t as good.  The experiment isn’t over yet though.  We’ll have to see how the plants grow over the next few weeks to see which ones are healthier.
