After wrestling with various Google Analytics and cookie notification plugins for longer than I care to admit, I think I finally have a mostly GDPR compliant site. You may have noticed the new banner thingy at the top of the page that says this site uses cookies and Google Analytics. I’ve gone to quite a bit of work to ensure I’m not collecting or sharing any personal or sensitive information, so I hope you clicked “Accept”. I still need to update and publish the privacy policy but that shouldn’t be too hard. If this site ever gets popular enough to matter, I might add some ads to help support the costs of running it. I’ll update everything again if that ever happens. For now, I think I have things set up reasonably well. I think one of my first posts about technical stuff will be a walkthrough of what I did. The various posts I found on the topic of integrating Google Analytics in a GDPR compliant way were a bit out of date or recommended using plugins that cost money that I didn’t want to spend. I’m guessing there are other people out there that are cheapskates like me that might appreciate some help if they’re trying to do something similar.

Glad you’re not trying to get personal info from me! 😬
