I just got done writing up my “about” page and made my first post. After opening a new incognito window so I could see it from the perspective of an actual visitor to the site, I’d have to say I’m a little disappointed. I thought it would look better than it does. It seemed like it took forever to type in all that text, but it’s really not much content at all. Looking at it from the outside is a little like hearing a recording of your own voice. You know it’s your voice, but it sounds kind of weird and creepy. And who the hell is this “admin” guy that’s taking credit for my post? Is that me? I guess that’s something to fix in the wordpress settings. I should probably create a login with my actual name on it. I guess I need categories too. There’s something that feels really unfinished about how that first post is “uncategorized”. I bet this one will be the same. This must be a little like how Emporer Palpatine felt about the second death star. I mean, it works and all. I can blow up planets and stuff. But a good third of the structure just doesn’t exist… Comments don’t seem to be working, and this theme looks terrible. I’m really not a fan of the color scheme, and the text is really big. It’s like a wrote it with one of those enormous, clown sized crayons I used to get when I was a kid. I want to put up some of those animated “under construction” gifs that were popular back in the early days of the internet, but I don’t think those are as cool today as they were back then.
Ok… Next steps are to fix up this theme, make comments work, look into categories, and figure out how to not be “admin”.
